V Visitor Laser Gun Replica Prop - Idealized Version - Development & Improvements

have you tried breaking up the file before sending it to them.. not as a whole?..

individual pieces.. so they have no clue what the pieces look like/are as a whole?

and/or adding a few 'break-away' tabs to pieces to make it look not like anything/odd shapes..
that can be easily removed/snapped off when received?

hate to see all your hard work not be 'finished'..

Im sure you can get around this.. :)..

Yeah, I guess I will have to try something like that. But that will make the protect even more expensive since they charge for handling every piece.

I know, but so far I lost almost 300 dollars trying to print this, and I am not counting the months I have spent doing this.

You'll make that money back once you get over this hurdle.

Sounds like the solution of having it printed in parts that they can't see as a disassembled gun is the way to go. Seems ridiculous that they are not printing it even if it does look like a gun.

I assume there aren't a whole lot of affordable 3D printing services there to choose from?

Please don't give up on this. If you set up a PayPal account for "advance pre-order deposits" you might be able to recoup some of your current losses. I'll chip in just to see this through.

Thanks, at this point, I will try anything. Yesterday I split the model in 2 and tried again. One part yesterday, remain part today. We will see.:rolleyes

Id use a different account as well..

Id make a few piece on 1 account/available.. and a few on another..etc.. if it the next attempt doesnt work.

I wanna see this finished and as a final product!!

good luck!

I am sure this has already been discussed but I use to have a red V gun toy that had a spinning flint spark device inside it to make the flashing light. The weirdest part about this toy was it wasn't from a V toyilne. I think they reused the mold for a Bravestarr villain gun. I have never seen this gun on the internet. anyone else know anything about it?

If you track one of those down, you may be able to use its sound/spark device.

They rejected half the model again, and still waiting if the other part will pass even If I received a message that said left model part was in route to printing.:angry

Anyway, I would not take money from anyone If I don't have something to offer, but, anyone willing to get a Visitor Special Pass Replica will contribute to fund the pistol 3d printing. Here:http://www.therpf.com/f13/v-visitor-special-pass-id-173398/

if there are still more available in 2 weeks, I'd be willing to take a second one. The Doomsday Key should help as well.

Good news. After a lot of emails, photos and documentation, Shapeways acceded to print the model. Eureka! Half of it was shipped to me. Other half is shipping next Feb 1st. Keep you posted guys. I think that laser gun will be a reality after all.
