My Props (Warning: Graphic Heavy)

Just soak them in some acetone for 30 - 60 seconds and scrub them with an old toothbrush, then rinse them in some warm soapy water. You could then, if you wanted, shine them up a bit with some Brasso and a rag (or not), then let the natural weathering begin.

Nice! Thanks for the heads up, I may have to try that. I'm wondering, how dark will the "natural weathering" get if I decide to use the Brasso?

Brasso won't effect the darkness one way or another. It's all about environment and body chemistry. Here's how mine looked after several weeks of wearing them (i didn't use brasso to polish them, but rather compound and a polishing wheel):

Nice! :D I'm definitely going to try the Brasso, after I get the "gunk" off. :)

Before I begin, I'm having a bit of trouble trying to determine the size of the card to use for my Will Graham FBI ID card (trying to get it right is a bit challenging).

Another Replica I happen to have:

This is a replica of the Declaration of Independence. I picked this up from the actual National Archive's gift shop when I went up to Washington. Of course, many people will recognize the Declaration of Independence from actual history, but for filmgoers, they will remember it from the hit movie "National Treasure". In the movie, Nicolas Cage steals the Declaration in order to protect it, and in order to throw off the bad guys, he purchases a replica of the Declaration after he accidentally wanders into the gift shop with the actual one. And for those who are wondering, in real life, the replica of the Declaration of Independence costs $9.95, not $19.95 as Nicolas Cage complained about.

New update:

Well, I was bored and flipping through the channels on my TV, stopping on USA during an episode of their new series "Covert Affairs." As I was watching it, I came to spot a particular prop. You know how I posted "Props you didn't know you have (sometimes too late)"? Well, I came to discover that I had one before I knew I had it! Below is a screencap of the item from the show. It is a data storage device within the show.

I have this thing. It is really a Nextar 1 GB Digital MP3 Player, Item # MA933A-1BL. I got mine as a birthday gift last year from my sister. I'll get a picture of mine up soon, as one of many additional items I've picked up.

Also, at one of the flea markets in my area, I found a vender that was selling some radios. You remember I talked about how I had this radio, which is seen in "Psycho IV: The Beginning"?

Well, this guy had it. It's got a little bit of rust on the metal strip that runs along the top front of the radio (that silver strip in front of the buttons and knobs). I had thought about getting it, but I decided to pass it up because of the rust on it (who knows, I may go back and get it).

UPDATE: Here's the picture of the MP3 Player I have that was used in the episode of "Covert Affairs" that I last made mention of. BTW, the protective plastic screen is still on the MP3 player (I didn't remove it to protect the screen), so that thumb prints at from the times I've handled it).

Also, as I made mention in another post, I picked up a replica of the Joker's knife from "The Dark Knight." Yes, I know it's not accurate due to the fact that the one in the film ejected from the front and this one ejects from the side, but its still a pretty decent replica (and I paid less for it, which I picked up at a Flea Market, than what most of the people who got it online paid for it).

Additional Update:

Almost forgot. Here's a prop in progress I'm working on. It's not a replica, but it is an original prop that is to be featured in my short film, "Bonds." This painting is made by a character I created named Matthew Kowalski. This painting is a representation of a legend that has been passed down throughout the ages by the Kowalski family: that when you die behind the wheel of a car, you see the Vanishing Point and eventually keep riding on it.

Got a new update. This is a new addition to my library. I picked up a copy of the Star Trek: The Next Generation - Technical Manual. I actually thought it was going to be something like the ST Tech Manual and the Doctor Who Technical Manual I have, but this thing looks like it could be an actual tech manual from the Federation's Star Fleet Academy. Anyways, he's a picture of the cover of the book I picked up.

I've just added another Star Trek related book I picked up at a book sale. Honestly, I'm not sure if its a good one, but it's called Ships of the Star Fleet, Volume One.

Here's what the cover looks like, just standard black book with white text (not a picture of the one I have, but mine is in good condition). Not sure if the ST:TNG Tech Manual or this one are really worth it, but I figured I'd pick them up.

Get some simichrome polish paste not the liquid. daub it thoroughly with simichrome I mean very heavy and light it on fire. Let it burn for about 30 seconds and blow it out then take some clean flannel cloth and start to polish it up. that was how we removed the lacquer from our brass in the army. Now when you are done polishing it up if you want them to be nice and shiny leave them alone if you want them to oxidize quickly take some acetone and use it to clean the anti-tarnish compound present in the brasso and the simichrome, off. Then just wear them as usual, in about 6-10 days they'll will start to look weathered.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll see if I can find some. :D

Brigade Quartermasters sometimes has simichrome polish in the paste. Otherwise look for a place that sells metal polish like jewelers rouge and similar stuff. They should have the paste.

New update to my collection. A blast from the past:

For those that are unfamiliar as to what film(s) this is from, it's the game Flynn plays in his loft while talking to Lora and Alan in TRON (1982). It also makes a brief appearance in Flynn's underground office in TRON: Legacy (2010). It's missing the battery compartment cover, and the inside connector to connect to a 9 volt battery is broken in half, which explains why it was .25 cents). But all and all, a great addition. :D

New update: As I've stated in the Walking Dead Season 3 post, I happen to have to have the same phone that Rick uses in the recent two episodes. I apologize for the screencaps from the episode. They were taken with my phone and from a TV screen.

For those who are wondering, the phone is a Western Electric Model 500 rotary phone.
