This dress from Snow White and The Huntsman is one of my favorites. I would like some really detailed pictures of it before I start my build. Danielfoez, do you happen to have any? You had some really nice shots of Snow White's costume in another thread :cheers

I may have a couple! I'm gonna look for them! BTW, once thing that I know is the number of bird skulls used on the 'trim' .5 on each sleeve, 5 on the back upper trim of the neck and other five for the front part, as well as other 6 for the line that runs from the bossom to the waist in the front, 26 in total.

EDIT:eek:k...so I only found these: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/-iitkcGxNsg/0.jpg

I don't have anymore pictures, but I would recommend watching the costume featurette, which is somewhere in youtube, and another exclusive costume featurette from the MTV, as well as the blu-ray...Sorry for not being able to offer anymore help :(

Those are a tremendous help!! I have the Blu-Ray but have not fully explored it as of yet. The gown material looks so lightweight, almost sheer on the top layer. Thanks again!

Hi, I'm making a Ravenna costume for Halloween this year. I'll post pics as I start my build. :) It's always fun to see how others make their costumes. Feel free to PM me.

My Selene-Underworld costume has taken priority over this build :$ I am trying to do these simultaneously, but it's a real challenge. This is what I have so far:
I purchased a grey taffeta skirt off eBay for $11.00 (!!!) as the base for my dress.
I have 30 resin skulls that I will attach to the bodice/corset.
I have the crown and some of the chains. I still need to add more closer to the chin.
I bought a pattern for the top layer and sleeves of the dress.
I found some black organza to use for the sleeves and the top layer of the skirt.
I found some lace for the sleeves but still need the buttons for the sleeves.
I bought some leather to make the "gladiator" strips at the base of the corset, as well as some random leather scrap strips I will use for the front of the corset. My intent is to paint these and then adhere them to a piece of lightweight leather cut into an inverted triangle shape and then attach this to the front of the corset. This will allow more flexibility for movement.
I still need a black satin corset with no laces and the adornments for the top of the dress.
Pics below :)

I look forward to checking out your progress with this costume. It's very cool!

Thank you! I am still looking for the little feather looking embellishments on the trim. I plan to use my time off from work next week to start sewing the dress. :thumbsup

Looks like marabou trim.

Lynn

Lynn, sorry for the confusion. I am actually looking for the little silver/metallic embellishments on the trim. At first, I thought they were leaves, but given the theme of the dress, I guessed that they might be feathers instead. (see the next post for image) I've looked everywhere and done multiple web searches, but I have come up empty so far. :facepalm

The stuff between the skulls and the button-like spots on the neckline? It almost looks like a lace - maybe with the straight edges butted together to give you the effect of a double-edged lace.

Whatever it is, it appears to be very lightly gathered with the spots and the skulls serving to pin the lace down to the dress. Between the skull and the spots, the lace is sort of humped.

I have spray painted trim before to get the color I needed.

Lynn

Oh man I can't wait to see more progress on this, I'm also making this dress but having so many problems with it at the moment.

This is my second favorite of her costumes and I really want to see the finished product. My favorite is her war dress.

I couldn't ever pull off wearing either one, but that doesn't mean I don't covet them.
