Like a few others, I want to make the Tomahawk from Assassin's Creed 3. This is the outline of the tomahawk's head and handle, without any decorations or wrappings. I wasn't able to find any clear profile shots, so this is a made-up version from what I could gather.

How does it look? Does anyone know of any dimensions or proportions that look wrong/off?

Other viewpoints/elevations will be made soon.

"Proper" silicone costs quite a bit more. But I will look into it still, especially if the first pull of the silicone caulking doesn't work as well as I hope it does.

First layer of the mold, made with silicone caulking thinned with naphtha:

I used a thin, brushed on layer of glycerin-based soap as a release agent. Test lifts on the corner seem like it's working great.

Last couple layers of the silicone mold. The popsicle sticks are for support; A solid mold jacket will only do so much at this point, since this is a mold to go up against a flat surface, not against another mold half:

Success!! The mold came off great, no air bubbles, clean detail, good lines. Strong and flexible.

OK now I'll stop posting so many times per day for a while. More pics once I've got some casts.

It's been a while. I got sidetracked by switching to selling compass kits first, tomahawk second. Kits are basically done with, so back to this.

So the silicone caulking mold worked ok, but not great. I wanted something that works great. So I bought some Oomoo compound 30, which of course works just as well as it should. So new mold:

The store was out of resin when I went, but I'll hopefully be able to get some soon.

There's a very good chance I will have a run of either completed tomahawks or of just the cast heads.
