Is that the correct version for the head?

I think also the blaster should be modified. He used the ESB stunt version, painted silver...

The head is not a real Derwent flame tube, not a bad replica of one though.
There shouldn't be any holes next to the eyes though (the Gentle Giant bust that detail is copied from is wrong).

correct, its a fan made IG Head created with all the data that could be found, and yes, the Gentle Giant bust was a used reference for where to put the holes. Would loved to have made a casting of a real Derwent Flame tube to use for the head.

people in the IG88 Builders Forum are trying to get accurate measurements of a Derwent Flame tube in order to make aluminum metal heads, and parts...its the start of the ALUMINUM IG project. Many will start, a few will finish...some will just be content with a fiberglass resin copy such as this lifesized.

I also need to take some outdoor photos showing size reference, these photos, however nice they are, still make this look like a smaller BUST, but I assure you, this is over 4ft in height...sitting on the ground the top of the head is as tall as my mid section.

Dude, that is frakking cool! Bout time someone got serious about putting together an IG-88 group! And parts!

I think Kurtyboy had one for sale a while back. You might PM him.

a wire running through the arm into the trigger mechanism, that fires when his robotic mind gives it the command...is my best guess..

i've been wanting to scratch build an ig-88 for a while now. not super accurate, but something that could easily travel to cons and such.

this site should be a great inspiration!

I have a real Derwent. Where is this IG-88 builder's club? I've been dying to work on a full figure. One thing that surprised me was how much bigger the head is than I expected. I saw this one at CIV and the head is a bit shorter than the Derwent. Looks very nice, though.

Edit - nevermind, found the group!

Man how I wish the Prequels would have had these droids running around instead of battle droids! I have always loved the looks of this droid :)

Here is a head of an IG88 I made about 5 years ago.

By the way I am not trying to Hijack your thread so if you would prefer I take the pic down just let me know and I will :)

The IG88 Builders forum is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ig88builders/

The Derwent Flametube is larger than this custom head, but the real IG had the flametube longer in the bottom and into the body, so rather than make a long head, we just made a raised collar for the somewhat shorter head to go onto it, so together it should still look the same as the flametube.

Going to be displayed at San Diego Comic con 2007 is the goal.

Before I got the Derwent I was sculpting a head to vacuform. Boy was I WAY under sized. The Derwent is HUGE. Plus it's filthy inside. Full of soot. With a cool little spinny turbine thing inside at the top.

I'm awaiting my yahoo group approval from the group moderator.
