Ironman Helmet for Airsoft FINISHED!

Re: Ironman Helmet for use in Airsoft

you could do it both from the same source but the inverter takes 9v so you'll need a resistor V=I x R so 3v/I = R
I really should read up on this at some point lol

Ive looked into el wire and I've decided to use LED'S because you would just see the el wire outline.

So now the plan is to get 6 pre wired 12v 3mm (3 per eye) and then defuse them and use this tape to reflect the light about.

That tape is black untill light is shined one it.

That's me testing i can stick it on as that's what Im button up to see through it :)

Re: Ironman Helmet for use in Airsoft help please stuck!

i have had to cut the bottom part of the back of the helmet out to get my head in, what are people thoughts on reattaching it? magents and what? i have looked into side release buckles but i dont think i can get my hand in to undo them..

if someone could suggest a hinge?

Re: Ironman Helmet help please stuck!

Definitely go with magnets to close it.Use the rare earth kind.As far as hinges go, a simple black nylon strap glued to both parts should work just fine and stand up to plenty of abuse. Put the strap on the inside in the exact middle of the two pieces at the top edges where they meet.A single 5 pound rare earth magnet on either side should work great with this setup.

Re: Ironman Helmet help please stuck!

whats the size of the magnets mate? i cant seem to find any 5lb ones on ebay uk found them its the 12mm x 3mm ones i need ;)

Do I pull the webbing tight when I glue it in place?

I've decided not to cut the face mask out.. Maybe I'll get another later on and do that to it

Guys i f&@k'd up... I need to restrengthen the whole helmet but with taking up as least room as possible?

Do i fiberglass it?? If so just 1 layer or resin then 1 layer of fiber and resin

Re: Ironman Helmet help please stuck!

I would recommend fiber glassing it yes, but do a really clean job of laying it out. Be patient when setting it up. I would say two layers of resin to make sure its a job well done.

Be careful though, not sure if the material used on the cast will stand up to the resin.

What happened? How did you screw up?

My neighbour ask what i had been doing so i went to show him it. At this point i had fitted 2 out of 4 magnets to hold the back on. With out realising i held the back bit and the helmet fell out of my hand i went to catch it and pushed it even faster to the ground and then this..

I have now used 2 part epoxy glue to put it back together and you can hardly see the cracks.. Will just have to sand it and bit of filler i think.

So 2 layers of resin. ?

How do i do that then? How thick does it go on as its already tight in there

Re: Ironman Helmet help please stuck!

1 layer of mesh two layers of resin. Resin will be how much you put on. Its probably anywhere from 1-2 mils.

Thanks for that mate. I've done 1 layer of mesh and resin ill stick another on tonight
