Perhaps you could add just another layer on top of the varnish with just the softer striping as seen here on the MR Paint Master?
Sorry for the large file >.<

JV1138 ... nice build sofar ... still I think you should soften those very black stripes and splotches a little more ... so I took the liberty to photoshop your FM to show how it could improve even better in my humble opinion :
Also photographing your models on a more neutral back ground does...
Nice belt indeed ... and here is some reference for Luke V2 costume (see pdf) thusfar I haven't seen anyone doing the hidden zipper under the left-arm :
And don't forget the 'military' band/toxedo stripes on the sides of his pants :
Also the lapels are 2 folding flaps,1 flap from right...
Could the methode to attach the emitter to the Hales neck been done with tag welding? According to wikipedia and I quote : 'TAG welding was the name given in the early 1970's to the then novel and revolutionary method of rod welding previously problematic metals.'
As I suggested to ChrisRWars...
So ChrisRWars ... once your Balance Pipe is emasculated and becomes a proper Obi-Wan emitter, will you now consider brazing it onto your precious Hales?

You could try Shapeways look under '308 Bits' by Tony RR 'YT1300 FM 1/144 Radar Dish and go for the more expensive Clear Ultra Fine Detail Plastic, Tony offers a slightly larger more accurate 24.6 mm rectenna, this is an upgraded version of the FM 1/144 Falcon radar dish and has been designed...
Hello RogerH and welcome aboard ... are you looking for the same original turret and rectenna dish that came with this Hasbro MF or an upgrade?
Sometimes the original parts are available on ebay ... as for upgrades there's the slightly larger dish that came with the Deagostini Falcon Part # 72...
The only one I found yesterday afternoon after a quick search ... and yes it has sold already ... I did reach out to Bengrim09 but thusfar he has not read my message ... so I doubt he purchased it.
