'89 Batman costume question

I know there are a lot of '89 Batman aficionados on the RPF and I'm hoping a couple will chime in.
My question: What did Keaton wear as a body suit that the armor was mounted to? I did a little Google-fu and I found conflicting answers. Some say it was a slick, rubber diving suit. Others say it was a spandex body suit. Yet others swear it was a spandex body suit. Was any of these or was something else used?

Was a spandex suit which had the foam latex armour glued onto it and any exposed areas of spandex were latexed for a uniform look.
