Albion highlander I Katana

Thought I'd share a project I'd been shooting for a while now. This is the only Albion H1 katana that I know of out there. Being 100%
aquired the hilt and tsuba from Albion then was given the name of the gentleman who was originally contracted to make the blades and assemble them. Rick Barrett
it turned out much better than I had imagined. Fully functional meaning removable tuba and handle for cleaning and blade maintenance. Blade is folded 1075 carbon steel

Rick Barrett made good stuff (he's retired from sword making now). I used two have two of his fantasy swords, one of which was one that I commissioned him to make for me. I still have the commissioned one and would starve to death before selling it, lol.

I really wish Albion was able to keep the license to make the battle ready Highlander katanas (yes, I know that there is a person, a member here, who has that license now) but sadly they were unable to get a production run going. I've always appreciated their work and I'm sure your sword is a work of art. It being a one of a kind only makes it more precious. Congrats.

Thanks. Yes someone else holds the license now which is why Albion cannot sell the swords. I went the Albion route because they produce museum quality pieces and the sword I wanted didn't exist. A fully fintional folded blade katana.

IMHO, you chose the right route.

There can be only one!, Sorry, I had to do it.

Cool sword

Albion does put out some awesome stuff, I have a Conan Father's sword and an Atlantean, that I wouldn't part with, and they're two of many.

Yea I just wanted a functional katana that could be taken apart for maint and cleaning. They also have the wax carving the handles were cast off of so there the best quality / detail you can get.

..just to let some of the mis-information be corrected.

This is not the film h1 handle .. it's the re imagined h1 that Jose de Braga made for Davis Merch that was sent to Albion. The original h1 is much different in look and feel.. Also.. since it's been said a few times on a few different forums.. that handle is cast resin only ... it's not reenforced by any means.. so be careful swinging it around ... mine are cast with carbon fiber and Kevlar core... and I offer folded blades but at the cost folded blades cost. I am currently working on a bone carved season 1 on a rick Barrett blade .. and it's true, I am the only licensed highlander prop and weapon maker anywhere ...

It's pressure tested. It's fully functional removable tsuba handle etc. all their handles have been pressure tested to exceed specs
as this progress report from 2003 states. It's more than safe lolView attachment 670369

Rick barrett also reinforced the channel for added strength even though he said it really didn't need it. Rick was on the originally helping Albion with the blades as well as final assembly on the project. He is pretty familiar with the project. Actually I believe Chris Osbornes H3 is An albion handle on a H1 tsuba.

I agree totally. Albion makes the highest quality movie swords there are I to have the Albion Conan atlantean sword and no other company can match it. Jody Sampson directly worked with Albion on these masterpieces. I'd hang on to yours as well !
