Anyone know whatever happened to the Event Horizon's gravity drive?

Currently have this going on in the background, and since I opted for the blu ray version I am stunned at how much detail was worked into the drive itself. I knew it had some circuitry engraved on it, but holy crap there is a lot of detail.

I was wondering if anyone knew what had ever happened to it? I can't think of any other movies that showed the prop off in any way, and I'd hate to think they wrecked it during filming.

Anyone have any info?

Chris

I always loved this movie , I always thought all the props and the ships were great, I wonder what happened to all of it ,did it go to seperate people ,was most kept together in storage ,or was most of it , just auctioned off ???

Yeah costumes seem relatively easy to find but props don't come up too often.

I managed to get 5 costumes from the film while I was collecting but put it on hold while I collect other things.

Truth be told, I've gone off collecting Event Horizon a bit these days and would probably trade it all for BSG now!

I worked with the director shortly after he wrapped the film, most of the items including the driver parts, the detail miniatures of the ship itself etc were in his garage in Venice Beach. He kept the ship inside on a stand..just sitting there.. Side note, the Mortal Kombat statues from the film, the ones that like 20 feet tall.. they are in his living room..

Now he has Milla Jovovitch in the living room and that trumps anything lol. It would be neat to see the drive and other stuff on display someplace, shame if it's still in the garage.

Man, I'd love if someone got the license to make replicas from the movie. I'd love to grab a 1/6th scale model of the gravity drive. Wouldn't even need the creepy as hell spiked walls to go with it.

It's definitely an iconic film prop.

Naturally some pieces were used in other films. I know of some set dressing -- "scrubbers" in particular -- that wound-up as part of the villain's stealth ship in Tomorrow Never Dies.

I'm more curious how you could possibly build a 'working' version of this drive. Obviously you could motorized the outside ring, but getting the inner rings to spin without additional motors and slip-rings seems difficult. Perhaps with magnets? I'll probably start another thread with this question

Ahhh, iconic indeed, I've always had a soft spot for Event!

There's a possibility that the Gravity Drive may have been partially disassembled though as I've bought many of the disc shaped panels that covered the main ball over the years, some as far back as 1997. Always got a kick out of displaying them in my office at work, another gateway to a dimension of pure evil lol.

at most ive only seen pics of the stand in, not sure if it was all CGI and a static version.

Event Horizon is pretty much my favourite movie by Paul Anderson. Before he started going by Paul W.S. Soldier, Res. Evil, and AVP were ok too.

I don't think there was much CGI used for it, they even physically set it on fire towards the end which actually impressed me for a film that featured so much CGI!

Hey, I worked on Sam Neil's Captain's chair, the big one that he piloted the ship from. It was a fibreglass cast of a chair attached to a kind of dental framework, to make it look more unusual. It then had 2 flymo leafblowers attached to the front sides, plus tonnes of other detailling.

It appeared as Captain Jacks pilot seat in Doctor Who, the one with Ecclestone in, then as dressing on a ship in Who with Tenant and the Clockwork men. I think I also saw it in the London movie museum at county hall? Either way, it was a great movie, and I'm chuffed I did a little bit of it :)
