I'd like to speed up the weathering on my A2-style "bomber" jacket without using much in the way of abrasives or chemicals. I don't have a specific role for it, but these things can be seen (at least in a frame or two) in just about every '30s-'40s movies era film ever made. I think Indy might have even worn one once? Anyway, I know the truly authentic way is to just wear the heck out of it all the time in all kinds of weather. This would be fine, but:
A. I live in Indiana and it's gotten below 30 degrees about twice this year and if it's above 40 or so and you're moving around, these things get HOT
B. When it does get really cold and I have to shovel or something, it's less practical than wearing my snowboarding jacket that has a well designed wrap-around hood and is designed to handle sweat, route earphone wires, etc. The snowboarding jacket isn't as wind resistant, but it doesn't matter when you're tossing a couple hundred pounds of snow per minute.
C. I don't wear it to work because it'd be less than a week before someone stole it. Yep, $300 goatskin jacket in a retail break room is going to be gone forever unless you either cram it into a locker and padlock it (already tried, our lockers are too small for it to fit) or install a GPS tracker on it and get ready for a fight when you try to take it back.
Basically I just wear it a few times a month when the situation is right and I'm expecting it'll look brand new in 2030. So what else can I do? I don't want to use wire-brushes, acetone, etc. This was a gift and I'd like to weather it, not abuse it. (Yeah, I know, that's a fine line, but you probably get the idea)
This is the model:
