Battlestar Galactica TOS Cylon Sword Build

After a lot of research, I found an artist that could do the chrome plating on the two pieces, but I thought the price was just too high for something that will simply be displayed.
I did some more research and came across some recently released, high end chrome spray paint by Revell called "Chrom Spray". So far, the results are amazing, but this spray paint comes at a hefty price and there are no detailed instructions on how to use it, so I'm still experimenting with it. Once I get the parts finished, I will post some pics.

Here's some before and after pictures of the Adama amulet using the new Testor's Chrom spray paint. First, I used some off the shelf grey primer:

Typically, it takes about a week for gloss spray paint to dry before it can be handled. I discovered with this spray paint, it may need at least 2 weeks to dry, otherwise, it will smudge. For the amulet, I sprayed it once and let it dry. The surface was a little rough on one side, so I sanded it lightly with 600 and 1500 grit sandpaper. I gave it a second coat and let it sit for two weeks.

Right now I'm in the middle of the same process with the sword parts. Once they're completely dry, I will do a final assembly and post some photos.

While waiting on the "Chrom" paint to dry, I've been wet sanding the aluminum blade with 440 and 600 grit:

The surface is now smooth enough to start polishing it. Here's a progress photo:

I've been using some chrome polish left over from my '66 Mustang. It does wonders on aluminum as well as chrome. It also works well on R2 domes. :)
