The movie was on not so long ago and I thought "would be nice to see some props and BTS stuff from this flick" Glad this thread was made.

Behind the Scenes anyone?

Again:
""Talking about B-Man has inspired me to scan in photos from my portfolio, a job I have been planning on doing for some time so I can have them saved on my PC. It is going to be a BIG job as I have thousands of pics.

The first 30 pics on the B-Man project are posted on my Flikr site,...There are some close-ups of the hands in there.
I will post more from the XFX days as I get more time.

Take a look: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dabar/s...7603649589860/

My bad, I did look..I misread, thinking it was something else, thanks for sharing...that is downright awesome! :eek

Was the wearable suit vac-formed? I guess that from your pics...just curious.

Yes, that is one of the best pieces from the movie.
One of the best props from any movie IMHO.

Most of it is double plated chrome, and then painted with translucent inks.
AWSOME effect in person. And Heavy, it feels "real" in person too.

I wish I had a pic of the top holoprojector area. It was waaaay cool.
Lots of intricate parts and buttons. All lights up and spins around too.

I never got tired of looking at that piece.

IIRC, all of the "hero" suits were vac-formred clear and then painted in auto-lacquers from the inside (to preserve glossy finish).
I remember using the solid white pulls to make the background "damaged" ones from. (pics of those on my site when I get time).

Added a few more B-Man pics to my Flikr site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dabar/s...7603649589860/

That represents the bulk of what I did for B-Man.
These were from my portfolio and easy to find.
I will have to dig through some boxes and see if there are any more "behind the scenes" type pics too.
(that is, if anyone is interested)

I am going to put more up soon as I can, from other projects.
I think "Red Planet" will be next.

Thanks for posting more. I am really taken a back on how much detail and intricacy there is in this particular prop set.

That was a hall-mark of Steve Johnson and XFX.
He wanted all the jobs to look good in person, not just on camera.
The idea was to not have limitations as to how a prop could be filmed.

Not typically a "Hollywood" attitude. :cool

Bumping this because I watched the movie recently, and frankly this is some of the best prop work I have ever seen.

I really enjoyed Bicentennial man and thought the props were simply amazing. Especially the Andrew reveal head. Incredible work. I would love to see the pics that are missing from this old thread

I am now the proud owner of head #2 :)
One of the most special things in my collection ...

I saw this thing in person. It's truly amazing.

Dave is too Modest to Post this so I will...(I have posted this before. I enjoy embarrassing Dave, every opportunity I get)

Steve Johnson, looked at Dave's Arm as he was finishing it, and yelled the following to the shop:

"See THIS?? Do You SEE THIS?? THIS KICKS STAN WINSTON'S ASS!!"

A reference to the Crude but lovable TERMINATOR ARM that Looks like a erector set compared to the BM arm that is quite possibly one of the nicest and most artful props ever created for a movie. I would agree with Steve.

To say they had a respectful, yet friendly rivalry would be generous.
