I'm working on building the digital speedometer from the BTTF Delorean (sadly I don't have a DMC12, but my car's at least silver...) and I've seen lots of replica kits available but no real measurements for the size of the project enclosure used in the film. Does anyone have the measurements or know if there are any that are agreed upon for the actual prop used? I know I could just find a similarly sized grey, generic enclosure, but at least for MkI I'm probably going to 3D print the case so that I can more easily fit my electronics and in that case I might as well get the dimensions spot on.
Side note... the reason I'm not just buying one of the kits is that all of those I've found rely on GPS to get your speed and seem to only show either a static value or your actual speed. What I plan to do is connect to the OBD-II port and get the speed as reported by the car. Which will be much simpler and much cheaper. Also, this way I can add some tweaks of my own to the electronics and firmware.
