Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier

I really don't cosplay but I wanted a challenge. I decided to start working on a Bucky Barnes Winter Soldier costume that closely resembles the movie. So far I've gathered all my materials and now have started to put it all together. I think with any Winter Soldier costume, the bionic arm makes the costume so I will be taking my time on that.

So far I've finished the mask.

Thanks folks!

The glasses came in so the head is pretty much done. I'm just kind of working my way down. The jacket will be the next thing completed.

Keep it up dude, looks really good! How you plan on doing the arm?

Thanks man! The arm I'm doing last because I'm still trying to figure out how I want to approach it. I think I may go the styrene route for the arm. Heating it up and wrapping it around a model of my arm. I made a model of my arm with plastic wrap, packing tape and foam.

This is gonna be sweet. Can't wait to see more. You're just doing this for fun?

Yes for the most part. I don't cosplay or anything but I wanted to do something challenging for me. A lot of my projects get sold after I finish them because after they're done I don't know what to do with them haha.

So I finished the costume up today. I made the harness adjustable because this costume will more than likely find a new home. The snaps are kind of tricky to clasp being so far to one side. I had been playing with small magnets that do a pretty good job at keeping the jacket closed but aren't permanent.

That looks badass! I was considering sculpting the mask as a side project, maybe I will, The arm is the key but you can definitely pull it off, I think the key is to make it in sections, forearm and bicep/shoulder, with perhaps a craft foam centre sprayed silver, I had thought it may work if you can get a pep file of a human arm and do it that way? Then you could go with the styrene strip idea but it would be easier to apply it to a solid form rather than trying to heat it to your arm shape, cant wait to see what you come up with

Thanks! I'm still scratching my head with the bionic arm. I agree 100% that the arm is the key to the costume but it has to be awesome. I made a packing tape form of my arm but havent been able to nail down a solid plan for the arm.

Looking at this photo it seems the top half of the arm/shoulder is one solid piece, quite detailed but doable I think, if you could get a rough form of the top of your arm and shoulder then resin it to make it solid, it would I think be a lot easier than trying to make the entire arm flexible, presumably in the film his arm will be heavily CGI'd, you could also tuck a section of it into the vest as has been done here

THIS IS AWESOME!! I was wondering how you made the mask or what materials you used because I'm planning on cosplaying bucky and I hope it turns out as great as yours! Great job!
