Can Someone Please Identify This Prop!

Hi,

I am new to these forums and have a question that has been nagging the back of my mind. I have been watching Tested with Adam Savage and have seen a bird-like helmet in the background several times. For instance, you can find it in this episode here: Adam Savage's One Day Builds: Han Solo's DL-44 Blaster - YouTube. The helmet appears to be made of steel, is riveted with a long beak, and adorned with white feathers. I know I have seen this before but can not place it in any movie or show I can think of and am having no luck identifying it online. If anyone can provide information I would greatly appreciate it.

Hey, thanks for the replies. That is what I was thinking as well, but I still could not find anything definitive. In the past I have even searched specifically for Sam the Eagle and have found nothing. Argh, I know I have seen this before (hits head)!

I agree that is not from Bioshock. Could it have been a helmet for Gonzo if not Sam

Yeah I thought about a medieval style of the plague doctors masks...

Upon further scrutiny it doesn't look exactly like the Splicer Mask but it is not exactly a stretch to say that it wasn't the inspiration. I mean the actual Splicer Mask looks more like a plague mask than the one in the OP's video.

If I had to describe the Splicer Mask I'd say it looked like a "big beaky mask adorned with feathers"

Maybe Sam asked Adam to make him a cosplay BioShock costume?

I messaged Adam and this was his response "I made it. It's riveted together from aluminum lithography plate and dressed with a feather boa. It's over 20 years old."
