connecting an airbrush to air compressor help

ok i am wondering if an airbrush can be hooked up to any air compressor. my uncle has an air compressor that you could use for a car tire. would this be workable? or would this not work? this would be my best shot and being able to air brush.

i got one of those( car compressor), and it works by getting air and shooting it thru the hose as it pumps it in...in and out.. i think paint compressors store a bit of air,then pumps it in as the tank empties.. in other words shuts down when the tank is full, so if u hook one of the hoses with a paint brush to the car one, u will get alot of air continuosly but then that air wants to go somewhere and fast so how would u control that air ???, just something to think about. but yet again these guys on here the hunters lair are so inventive i wont be surprise some guys already got them up and working...

so there would be alot of exess air that would make it hard to control?
