Cutom reveal saber, efx killer

They are clear quarts, I get them in big lots on ebay, pick out the best ones and toss the rest, then I use a special type of paint to color them whatever color I need. The paint I use is metal cast by duplicolor, its designed to make aluminum look anodized, but its transparent and works great on crystals.

Here is a link to the paint.

You can get it at most automotive stores, oreilly ect.

Beautiful work! the Luke ROTJ has always been one of my favorite designs.

One gripe though. I wouldn't consider it a eFX killer simply because I'm sure the price isn't comparable. If it was the same or lower price as the eFX then yes, it's a eFX killer. If it's 2-3x the price, then it's in a completely different class. ;)

We're talking apples and oranges here...an EFX killer, C'mon, now.

While the machine work is quite nice, you've been afforded the flexibility of deviating from what most consider the known, "Elstree Reveal." Once a prop maker has been freed from having to peruse accuracy; they really shouldn't compare their work to one that was burdened by having to follow the known design.

I think you've denigrated your work by unnecessarily (and unfairly) comparing it to another. I mean, why? As I said, it's quite nice and should stand on it's own for what it is. I don't get the pissy, unnecessary jab. The high road would've served you better, is all...

Nice saber though.

Reminder to all, this is not the Junkyard and this is not a sales/INT thread... so please no pricing/sales talk. Thanks.

I like how you made the emitter with an internal tube that juts out like the knob on the original prop. That would make it look reasonably accurate to the static props from afar even without a blade. Now weather the outside of that emitter to hide the set screw.

I think that you could have hidden the recharge port and activation switch.
By the way, wouldn't it be better to engineer it so that you have easily replaceable batteries with an external charger, so that you could get a freshly charged battery if you run out during the middle of a troop/convention?
