Ref of what I'm building:


Of course, like most cartoon things, it's drawn differently on every instance, but I settled for the above two shots as my reference and did some interpretation.

Here's my shot at it in CAD



Then did the fun 3D printing thing at my friend's house!



Then did the bondo/fill paint thing:



Drafted the lens in ACAD and had it laser etched out of acrylic, and bent:

With some fun LEDs for effect:


Did a silicone pour:


And here's the first cast!

Will buy, only if modded to a functioning gaming head set. I really need to be able to tell all those little kids playing GTA online to shut up and go outside to play!

I did a pretty (bad) intricate soldering job today and got 3 LEDs wired in parallel


Unfortunately I didn't make the symbols any brighter. I feel I just wasted 2 hours of my life.

And then I did a mediocre job ad hand painting the other colors, despite my masking. I need to get some spray paints and ditch this enamel crap.


I'm trying to get the foam pad working properly, but so far, it's all over the place.

I'm gonna put up a JY thread for kits for this. The mold came out really clean, and I had spare lenses made!
