Ya primer is definitely the way to go with these specific prints for sure. Finished off the antenna greeblies that way today as well. Also finished the flash hider, bull barrel and scope..

Here some pics of the scope as well. First this is the paint I used for these parts, then some assembly pics and weathering. I used the resin scope wheel simply because the details resin can capture with the numbers/knurling. I did finish the MJF wheel for comparison. This also leads to the limitations of these prints which you can see in the “Hensoldt” writing..

Vagabond Elf thanks for sharing the primer info. Two things peeked my interest. Your spelling of colour. I’m originally from Ontario myself but have have crossed the boarder back and forth many times as my family is split between Canada/US. Always nice to cross paths with fellow Canadian. 2nd and more importantly.. are you building an R5-D4??

Yeah, I'm in YEG, born an' bred. And since we're discussing grammar I'm obligated to point out it's "piqued my interest." Which is admittedly a bit of an odd phrase to mean "caught my attention" since "fit of pique" means "self-interested, childish anger," but English, hey? :D :p

(As for colour, you have to have the "u" in it so you know it rhymes with "fur." "Color" is actually a word, that rhymes with "for" and means "irritated." (And yes, I know the Americans took their spelling from the Latin "color" which means "outward appearance" or "visual characteristic." It's all part of that "we're not part of England any more" identity building that happened in the early 19th Century.))

And yes, I'm working on an Arfive build. Slowly, because I'm poor, but I'm working on it. I've a build log over at Astromech.net.

Nice work, man! Great replica..I like how the lettering/numbering turned out too.

You could probably sell this at RIA for close to a Mill.. ;)

I know you were worried about losing some of the lettering but it looks pretty darn good! Your painting and weathering/antiquing skills are excellent.
