Factory Entertainment She-Ra Life-Sized Sword Issue/Advice

Ok RFP brain trust, looking for some advice here.

I purchased the Factory Entertainment 1:1 steel She-Ra Sword of Protection for my wife.

Before I bought it, I tried to do my due diligence on it but there is literally no online reviews for it save one here:

I was hoping that this was a one-off issue (or in the case of the guy that made the review videos a two-off) but sadly it looks like this was a manufacturer's defect for all of them as mine has the same issue (screen grab from the above video to show what I mean).

So the question is, should I attempt to have this repaired, there's apparently a blacksmith school close to me, and to me it looks like a matter of clamping together the aluminum tang part, or just return it for a refund? I bought it through Sideshow so I've got 30 days to return it.

There is not really an exchange option as this looks like an issue with all of these swords and of course there's a massive risk to taking it to a third party for an attempted repair as it could damage the sword even more and of course void the limited warranty on it for the return... and this sucker wasn't cheap!

Thoughts and opinions?

That’s a tough call… I don’t know much about this prop

But if it’s something I really wanted, and this maker is the only one that makes them. I would do my best to try and repair it

If there are other options out there I would return this and try someone else

Have you contacted Factory Entertainment directly? They should be able to advise if that is the way they were designed or if that is an issue.

I know the metal is cool and all (and that the She-Ra sword is only available like this) but I picked up the foam versions of He-Man and Skeletor's sword from Factory Ent and personally I like them both much better. The shininess of the metal blade with the much different texture in the guard was baffling to me. Even the metal He-man versions have a bit of a space too between the guard and blade. Gotta be a production issue.

The foam ones are more uniform in overall look and also a fraction of the price. My hope is they do the animated version of He-man's and then also make the LARP version.

I know that did not answer your question at all Edraven99 . Just food for thought.

Unfortunately the sword wasn't for me but a gift for my wife, who is a big She-Ra fan. It's a definitely possibility if they ever make a foam or LARP version of the She-Ra sword.

Ahhh that stinks bud. At least you're not out any $$$. But I totally know that feeling buying a prop for the wife that doesn't meet what you were expecting.
