Frankenstein Flat Top Appliance - How??

I've always wanted to make my own Glen Strange style Frankenstein makeup, but there are no good commercially available appliances that would fit the bill.

How hard would it be to make my own custom fitted head appliance?

Keep in mind, I am a complete newb, and have never made a mold of anything before.

Can any of the experts here point me in the right direction? Is it at all cost effective to try to make such a project? What materials would I need? Are there any good links that would show how to do this?

The first thing you would need is a full head cast and some clay.

I have no idea if this would work, but what about starting with a bald wig and building it up from there?

Ha! I had that book too! I made a least a couple brown-bag Frankenstein's monster costumes back when I was a kid.
