Grail Diary Paper - Linen?

Hey Everyone -

This is my first post! I'm gearing up for my very first serious prop replication - and I've chosen the Grail Diary. I'm going to purchase the PDFs from ETSY - apparently they're quite good and will save me countless hours (why reinvent the wheel...).

Anyway - I just watched Adam Savage drooling over the screen used diary from the prop store auction and he mentions that the paper had a paper - a grid pattern I beleive. This leads me to suspect that the paper is likely a linen blend. Does anyone know if I'm on the right track? I know lots of people used standard printer paper (or similar) but that was BEFORE Adam saw the pages. Why start with something less accurate, know that we know more?

So - has anyone found out more about this texture? Do we know if what linen? I took a screen shot from the prop store that I think shows a bit of the texture. The lighter area to the right of the knight seems to show an alternating grid pattern.

Ideas? Notions? Advice?

hello,

hte hero diary has no pattern, the other have pattern, that is called "laid paper" you have to find quite low weight type, with laid design.
Depending on your location there are various brands, here in France I know clairefontaine makes a good one, vergé pattern, "ingres" name

So the hero grail has not pattern or texture, but the less important props did? Ok! Thanks, that a great start!

The hunt for the best paper can be a challenge. One tip is that you can change your location on Amazon to other countries. For some reason, all the best paper isn’t readily available in the US. I just bought two reams of paper from Spain that look promising. Downside, be prepared to wait a while.
