Grinchmas Tree

Every Who down in Whoville liked Christmas a lot,
But the Grinch, who lived just north of Whoville, did not.
The Grinch hated Christmas — the whole Christmas season.
Oh, please don't ask why, no one quite knows the reason.
It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were too tight.
It could be his head wasn't screwed on just right. - Dr. Suess

So after watching The Grinch a few weeks ago and being in a grinchy kinda mood, I decided to make an attempt at decorating.

It was actually a fun project and luckily I had a lot of stuff sitting around: scrap mdf, a few off color buckets of paint I picked up from Home Depot a year or so ago (figured I would use it for something), and some imagination. I wanted to keep the project within a budget and even looked for something already available I could modify, to no avail.

Well a trip to Michaels on Black Friday and a Home Depot trip (or 3) and here is the WIP. All and all this cost about $30 with the ornaments, lights, and ribbon.

Really love this, I am planning on doing a Grinch style outdoor theme next year. I recently saw a pic of someone who had put a Grinh outside and made it look like he was taking the lights off the house. I am thinking of doing that, and having a few whoville style trees outside would really add to it. Great build and thanks for the idea!.

This project is fraught with WIN. I was in full-smile by the time I scrolled to that last pic. :D

Love it, looks awesome :D Can you put a pic of it with the lights on Pleeeeeease ;)

I'll actually have to take one. I can do that tonight. Glad everyone likes it. Kinda gives me motivation to keep "decorating." I had actually thought about making the fire place more Suess like but since I use it for real fire it's not a practical idea putting false walls up.
