Hello, all!
My plan is to make a Groot cosplay from Guardians of the Galaxy. Not necessarily based too much on the movie version, but one of the older ones from the comic where he's in his blue and red uniform.
I have a question for you folks who are much more knowledgeable than I am about the materials for creating a wood bark effect: My plan is to use thick cuts of EVA foam for the base of the wood parts of the body (head, arms, hands, legs) and then use something else to texture over it. I was thinking of something sculptable like paper mache and then use a resin over it to solidify the pieces. I might even just use the thinner craft-store foamies to add details and then sand and hot-knife in some details before painting to give sort of a wood bark texture to it. I'm just not entirely sure what would work best.
What do you lot think would be the best way to make a wood effect for my costume?
