Halo Pelican Model

- UPDATE TIME! -

Last post was in January?! :eek Please tell me if this counts as necroposting if i am updating my own thread.

Believe it or not, i have made progress on the model in the last 7 months.

Here goes! :D

Working on the left mount for aft port nacelle

Done! This was mostly done by eyeballing measurements from the starboard mount.

Got the front thing done. I actually redid it. Before, it was three small bits of plasticcard and puttied. This time round it is a small piece for each surface, giving a cleaner finish in my opinion.

Raised detail on the port nacelle.

...And done on both now. The recesses are 1mm wide. I'm very happy with the way this looks.

The thrusters have been puttied flat.

The circled area has been trimmed flush.

I cut out the undersides of the wings. The lines are to guide some slanted parts that connect the wing to the nacelle.

I'm planning to add raised details to most of the pelican. This will make them stand out a bit more, and easier to paint. ie, dark wash. The piece on top is just to give me an idea of the thickness, and is not going to be the final look. The cockpit will take the longest i think, as its a bit wonky :unsure

Sorry for the inactivity to any who were following this thread.

Still got lots to do, so stay tuned!

Thanks for looking!

Can't see the images in your last post but cool build nonetheless! Here's mine...

about 3 foot long from head to tail IIRC.

That looks great! I'm assuming that's the halo 3 pelican, due to the slight differences (I'm extremely pedantic about small details). Have you made any progress? What material is it made of?

- Anyway -

Started to build up the paneling. The gaps will create natural areas for dark colours to really accent the lines and make them pop.

Paneling with added slots for greeble/antenna things. The round holes are just small details.

I'm really liking the look of the panels.

Stay tuned and thanks for looking!

Apologies for the severe lack of updates. I've been procrastinating with video games.

Btw, Happy Halo 3 10th Anniversary! I was spending my entire day playing the Classic Playlist in halo 5 and playing lots of Halo 3 backwards compat. I have to get around to doing a Halo 3 pelican some day.

Got the greeble antenna things cut out. I ran out of glue, so the detail isn't glued on yet.

I actually spent some time blueprinting the tops of the engines. I tried a few before, but they were severely inaccurate.

Hypothetically, it should sit on top like this.

Thanks for looking,

Happy Halo 3 10th Anniversary! :D

- UPDATE -

I punched out some holes in some of the pieces. I marked out where the hole would be with a pencil, then i make a small indent with a pin. Then I slotted the pin into the pilot hole, and hit it with a mallet. To be careful, I gently hit it multiple times rather than hit it hard once.

Some gaps still need filling, and the rest of the panels have to be cut out and glued. I'm procrastinating like crazy on the wings, so no progress on that yet. Here i have trimmed all the putty down and glued on some panels.

Just as a side note, please be careful when cutting. Luckily i only got my nail, but i sanded the area around it to make it less noticeable, as you do.
