Heat guns?

I was just reading up on foam and some people mentioned using heat guns to form the foam to a certain shape/bend. What do you look for in a heat gun? If it were just me, I'd buy the cheapest, but I don't know if it'll break easily or not function as well. Can I get some tips or help? Thanks :)

Personally I had no idea either and went for cost effective and got lucky in that mine seems perfect for the job. I like the fact I can crank the temp setting up and keep the air out low so the elements heat up quicker. To be honest you want cheap and heat. As long as it blows hot air then that's all you need, not a hair drier though as they just don't cut it.

I got mine for $20AUD from the local hardware store and it's been fine for me so far. Has two heat settings, but generally I only need to use the low setting for foam anyway.

I got mine for about 20USD and it has a low and high setting. I haven't had any problems with it. You could get a good deal on craigslist (if you have it.) Tools like that usually go for pretty cheap.

The more expensive ones that I've seen have more fine control over the temperature. If you don't need something to be at a really specific temperature then it's probably not worth spending more than is necessary on a basic gun.

Got my for like 15 bucks at Harbor Frieght.. Had it for years now with zero problems using it often.
