For the film the dark knight they used a tie from Turnbull and Asser for joker. But the costume designer lindy hemming stated they dipped it in a dark substance. Anyone know how to or how they did grunge it up? The bright version is the original.

this isn't directly related to your question and while i don't have either, i'm gonna throw in my two cents and say you should probably go with magnoli's. not only is it less expensive, but it was made to replicate the tie from the film. with the turnbull, not only will you have to put in extra effort to get the color to your liking, but there's also the chance of potentially ruining it and/or damaging it's material.

I won't be going with magnoli. I'll take my chances, I'm trying to make my suit the next best accurate thing under the screenused suit and magnolis is inaccurate enough for me to not even be tempted to buy it. I'm gonna use a brown rit dye and slowly and easily dye it. I'll also have blue and green in case it gets too dark. I'll show you photos from the person that dyed the turnbull tie. It's not great but it does give an example from anothers experience.

I'm too much of a perfectionist for this for my own good lol

hey, if you're spending this much time and effort it's understandable lmao. could you tell why magnoli's is inaccurate? i was considering purchasing but you've got me second guessing now.

Because meanwhile magnolis base color is just brown with yellows. But the base color isn't just brown, sure it's dark and in some lighting it does look brown. But it still has a hint of the blueish greenish color the tie originally has. The color, to me, is more like the tie from my statue in the last photo. The material is off sure but the coloring is more there then just brown for comparison
