Valspar Plastic Primer says specifically it is Suitable for
PVC, polypropylene and casting resin. just scuff sand the item (maybe 600 to 800 grit to give it a bit of tooth) then apply2 coats 5 to 10 minutes apart and wait an hour before painting. polypropylene is hard stuff so even with this I would say it would be easily scratched... but then so is aluminum!
I'm trying an automotive product for flexible plastics: Dupli-Color Vinyl and Fabric paint. So far, mixed results. I think it's a lacquer; it seems to work well as a primer under enamel.
