I got my first MGC!

Looks so cool! I cant believe how heavy they are. Tight action too! The finish can be dealt with..

I think the only reliable way to remove the shiny finish is bead blasting??

The plating is quite tough, gold over silver over copper IIRC. The die cast metal is soft. Be careful trying to remove it!

Tbh, I just gave up and painted mine matte black and then rubbed it to a sheen for a decent gun looking finish. I bought a separate bead blasted lower from somebody else's project and the sharp lines had been worn down from the removal. I'll watch what you come up with.

If possible, I would plate copper over the gold (or tin first, then copper), and then plate iron onto the copper.
