'In real life', Indiana Jones is 8 inches shorter. Hollywood always reserves the right to make all heroes at least 6' tall.
Example: Alan Ladd who was a predecessor to Harrison Ford in a similar role was 5'4".

Again, a continuity error(?) that could have been cought and corrected with a reshoot or simple voiceover, making it "...about 82 inches" instead.
When the film first came out in 1981, I may have even thought that Indiana Jones was looking for the lost Noah's Ark
That was exactly what I thought when my brother and I went to see the movie and I was 23 at the time.
