Iron Man - helmet way too big... [pics]

Hi all,

I'm working on my first foam build, but I decided to buy a resin cast helmet. However, when it arrived, it's comically too big.... it looks ridiculous!

I was hoping to modify it so I wouldn't have to return/scrap it....

If anyone has any idea how to maybe cut it down so it doesn't look silly on my armor, I would be forever grateful :)

This is the one on ebay right? I'd say return it. You may get issues proportion wise if you try to modify it. See what else other people say about this.

If you have access you should check "The Junkyard" in this forum for people selling helmets.

It is also a recast of the museum replicas helmet. From what I've seen here recasts are a serious no no, return if you can and support the rpf by visiting the junkyard!

Thanks for the reply guys! Yeah that was a hasty decision on my part, definitely shouldn't have ordered from eBay.....

I'll see if they accept returns, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll take a look over at the junkyard. Thanks again!!

I also built an Iron Man helmet... I invested weeks to finish it... and mhmm... looks way to big in combination with my suit :(

Just sent them a message. Hopefully I can return it.... If I'm stuck with it, I might as well try to hack it up to make it fit :p

If ya cant return it I think you should sell it Cause by trying to make it fit the porportions of the helmet will be off and it wont look right and end up just as much work as starting from scratch. Good luck man...

So you think it's a good idea to sell a very poorly recast helmet?

I guess I'm not understanding the whole "recasts are bad" thing..... I'm not going for 100% accuracy whatsoever, so a helmet is a helmet for me. Unfortunately, this one is way too big for my dome :(

Definitely not trying to be defensive here, but I'd rather not let the helmet go to waste because it's a recast. But, I don't want to be "that guy" that tries to sell garbage on ebay or the junkyard either though :p

Thanks man. Ugh.... I really wanted to avoid making my own helm, I hear it's the toughest thing to get right. I'll be posting pics of the rest of my suit soon, and it's DEFINITELY not professional grade, so I at least wanted the helmet to look good :p
