Jackie Estacado: The Darkness
Hello, total newbie to this site but I thought I'd share a build of mine.

I hope I'm putting this in the right place, if not please feel free to tell me where it goes. I'd like to share my build of the Darkness from Top Cow comics.

I started out with a green lantern halloween costume as a base

From there I added foam for detail

Once the foam was glued to the base I covered all that with some under armor

Then slowly started painting and adding more detail to the front

and the back

detail on the boots before paint

and one of the gloves unpainted

the mask was sculpted from super sculpey and cast in fiberglass

really happy with how that turned out

redid the paint on the suit because I wasn't satisfied with the color on the first try

a really bad shot of me testing it all out before the con

that looked like a lot of work, nicely done

Thanks, it was a lot of work. First go it didn't turn out, but I was able to salvage the suit and try again and it turned out better :) so I'm glad I didn't give up.

The muscle suit was definitely an experience, especially with trying to hide breasts and all that.

I think this is the first time i saw anyone cosplay Jackie  In the end is that your hair or wig? since the hair color is almost the same xD anyway awesome build, im happy to see someone cosplaying Darkness

Very nice work, the idea of using the under armour as a kind of skin to unify it all while respecting the volumes is great... what material did you use to do the final detailing in boots, gloves and such?

Oh my friend told me about this guy, but he's a tad bit skinny =s and i like the suit you used for the base more.. The other is too shiny ._.
Yeah, I wish the guy had done a muscle suit of some sort when he made his.
Thanks :) I didn't want it to be too shiny either.

Thanks. I tried keeping the whole thing proportioned to my body as best I could without getting to crazy with the muscles. I used crayola model magic actually, combined with some latex and then just acrylic and fabric paint.

i saw pics of this on cosplay.com great job on the outfit! And good use of the muscle suit too! It's nice to see more Top Cow cosplay <3

That is totally awesome dude! Always love The Darkness and never would have thought of Jackie as a practical build, good job dude!

Ha ha, did you? Well it's nice to know people have seen it. :)

Lol not a dude, but thanks. It was a budget build, which is why I didn't sculpt the gloves from clay and do a mold or anything, but it still turned out so I'm happy with it.

Nice, I thought it was something more complicated, good thinking. Thanks for the info!

Oops! Sorry about that! Still an epic costume, great work!
Ha ha, it's fine man. :) I'd rather people critique the costume anyway then focus on the fact I'm a girl.

You're more then welcome. If I had to do it over again I think I'd use silicone caulking for the details like this one lady did for her Witchblade costume on here. http://www.therpf.com/f24/my-attempt-make-armor-out-silicone-158395/
