Kydex & Cosplay

A friend told me about this stuff recently, and it's pretty cheap so I decided to give it shot:

Kydex on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Small-Parts-KYDEX-V-Sheet/dp/B00KDMLJ0A

It's similar to other thermoplastics, you heat it then form it, shape it as wanted. I was hoping I could use it over some foam to toughen it up. However, it appears it would be very hard to shape it, especially with any kind of intricate design as it's actually too tough. This stuff is amazingly durable, I've seen people make holsters out of it then run over it with a truck to show how tough it is.

I'm probably going to try terraflex, it's way more expensive but appears way more workable. However, i still want to give Kydex a shot on something.

Has anyone else experimented with Kydex? Any suggestions?

seem it used for hard inserts in some leather working pouches and the like.

unlike the popular worbla it doesn't bind/stick to itself so you would have to glue/rivet/etc.. it so for forming around foam for costume parts I can't see it being that useful. as a formable thermoplastic you can cut shapes out of to make parts then yes I can see the benefit but it's a very different product to worbla.
