Just found the movie that came out a year or so ago in Japan on Youtube with English subtitles. Big BSG feel to it but entertaining.

Without spoilers...I liked it. Its not a Western Hollywood blockbuster but a great adaptation from the TV animated series. The EFX were great. Subtitled movies can get a little......tiring, but this has a steady plot line that is fairly linear.

So watch it for gratis before it goes down.

There's an English sub version out there on the interwebs. Well worth watching the 26 episode adventure (each one is 20 minutes).

I ordered the Yamato live action DVD with subtitles and yes it reminded me of Moore's BSG. (which isn't a bad thing IMO) and have been watching 2199 and its veryyy good!!!
