MR TOS Enterprise pics.

Yep. Lights in the dome above the shuttle bay, the red/yellow/green lights below the shuttle doors, strobes on the sides near the back - the full monty..

Awesome.

I put together one of the old, model kits years ago and realized that it didn't have these details. I recall trying to figure out how to add all those tiny lights.

This is definitely an amazing model.

One of the originals can still be found in the gift shop (lower level) at the Smithonian Space/Flight Museum. I was surprised to discover that some of the "weathering" was done in different shades of green...almost a "moss" effect on the bottom of the saucer section.

The present state of the 11ft studio scale in the Smithsonian is poorly regarded by most TOS modellers.
The guy that did the last "restoration" went nuts with gridlines and weathering to the point it looks like it belongs in a Star Wars movie.

Look for older pictures of the miniature for screen accurate reference material. I hope someday the 11 footer gets restored properly.

That is one sure way for MR to botch this project, screw up the paint job with what happened to the original in the Smithsonian.

But Im sure the MR guys are aware of what is screen accurate.

Go here for historical pics of the original studio model in its various states over the years........

The weathering on the 11-footer was originally pretty distinct I'm told... the ship was never completely clean (except during the "Cage" days I guess)...

The ship in the Smithsonian was refurbished a couple times by Ed Miarecki... he toughened up the weathering and gridlines to a point that most of us (Trekkies) find distasteful.

compared with how it looked like before the "renovation"...

Supposedly the top of the saucer section wasn't touched (except for repair to the decals) so that gives a decent idea of what the ship was supposed to look like.

MR have access to wonderful beauty photographic reference of the 11 footer in her prime. John is using this to recreate the paint job.

The model in the pic actually has the beginnings of the weathering on the top saucer. It's very subtle indeed, and tends to wash out in flash photography, but it's there for the eye to see.

I was stoked when I saw it. The model is sweet and as I said before, there is a wealth of Trek talent and fanatics working on this project to make sure it's the dogs bollocks.

Looking great. I'm so excited that MR is tackling this. Not sure if it was asked before but, will any sound effects be included in the ship? The lighting scheme is looking sharp.

Funny how that slipped in there huh? :lol

Almost doesn't look large enough.

Can't wait to order this 1701 though. :thumbsup :D :thumbsup

Yes it sure is, Dean. The first engineering sample of the Falcon arrived and I was doing a comparison to see exactly how off the FM falcon is...

The Falcon is INCREDIBLE. Imagine the Enterprise and the Millennium Falcon together. It was a sweet day yesterday.

ED M. RUINED the 11 foot Enterprise.

It looks like crap they should have never "restored" it.

A crime against humanity comparable with the Taliban blowing up the giant stone buddhas. (only exaggerating a little here) ;)

The ship is more then vaccuform and wood or a nostaligic prop for an old TV show watched by nerds.

It is a dream of spaceflight (inter-stellar travel) and a goal of humanity about where we want to be someday. It has inspired some of the best of the best among us to try to make some of those dreams happen. It should be treated as such. Dreams drive us to excel and persue goals.

It is more then just a studio model because people have made it more then that.

A reasonably accurate restoration is not too much to ask. It would have cost the same money.

I absolutely agree with you both. :thumbsdown :unsure :thumbsdown

Has Ed ever commented on why the Enterprise restoration went so horribly awry? His other restoration work was pretty impressive.

To boldly circuit where no circuit boards have gone... before. :sleep

I am curious what will be blinking and what wont, the studio scale seemed to have some blinking and then not as time went on through production of the show. Even the rate of blinking changed as they sped the film up for different shots. Also if some windows will remain dark.

I assume that it will simply be a on or off switch for the whole thing. No individual control over the various lights.
