MV's Rebel Fleet Trooper

Hey there RPF! I just finished my RFT costume, and got it Rebel Legion approved. I just wanted to show some pics of it.

And the DH-17 (just an accurized/painted Hasbro....I want to upgrade it to a Jedidad or something eventually):

I just wore it to WonderCon, but I haven't found any pics of me in it from the event yet.

The helmet is an old kit I got 2nd hand from a member here in So Cal. It's about 8 years old, I was told. I am unsure of the name of the maker, but he's from Texas and made a bunch of helmets for Sunrider base RFTs a while ago. The shirt is a modified button up from Target, and the vest is a BDU jacket with the sleeves and collar but off, buttons removed, and a row of pockets added to the back. The pants are unmodified grey BDU pants. The belt I made with a leather blank, a buckle, and dye from Tandy Leather Factory. And the boots are just motorcycle boots with the leather straps and buckles removed.

I want to get a resin kit for an A280 to take with this (not formally okay, but for informal events and photos and whatnot).Anyway, just thought I'd share!

Thanks! I was super picky about the blaster, and there's still a few things that I need to clean up about it. I want to add some black scorching on the muzzle, since the black areas are lightly weathered. I think I need to add a bit of weathering to the muzzle to balance it out a bit.

Glad to see someone doing a Rebel Fleet Trooper! The poor Rebel Alliance gets no love most of the time:D

Love it. I plan to make one too, though I think will break down and buy a helmet from originalstormtrooper.com I gotta finish my Dash build first, then either this or a Bail Organa. Great costume. And congrats on the rebel legion. Was it difficult to join?

Awesome outfit! I'm partly done getting one together myself!

If anyone's interested in a slightly less expensive helmet than the one on originalstormtrooper.com I have had my eye on this one, although I know nothing about the seller.

Also, thanks for the heads up that Hasbro made a D 17, I didn't know it was out there.

Anyone know anything about the item the trooper is using in New Hope? I'd like to have this gizmo for my cosplay.

Hey, sorry for the lack of response! I forgot to check back on this thread. :(

Mac, no, not at all. I've been a member since 2012 when I got approved with a generic Jedi, but I had to sell that costume a year ago, so I had been just assisting with troops (called wrangling) since then. But this is the easiest/cheapest costume to do for RL approval, so I just went ahead and got it together so I could actually troop again. I've been a member on the main forum since 2011, and the biggest tip I can give is post a WIP thread over there. The LCJs (Legion Costume Judges) will most likely see it and give you any and all advice needed to bring it up to approvable standards. Everyone is very knowledgable and willing to help out!

And thanks, MystArt!

StudioCreations is a very good choice, he's one of the most popular choices in the RL. He's been doing them for ages and are a good balance of quality and price. Only reason I didn't use him is his turnaround time is 8-12 weeks, and I needed a helmet fast. Another guy who does great helmets is actually a member here and at the RL, MonCal. He does awesome work as well, and does Yavin Tech helmets, too (IIRC). AND, he offers visors to put in the up and down position, which is an awesome option. I had inquired about his helmets when I was looking around, and he is very pleasant and helpful to deal with; I would recommend him too.

And yeah, the blaster isn't being made/sold in stores anymore (at least, I can't find them locally) but they are common online, like here:

Officially Licensed Star Wars - Rebel Trooper Blaster with Darts - Costume Accessories

That's the best price for the DH-17 I've seen. And they require very basic mods, so it's easy/cheap/fast to get them up to snuff. Just sanding off logos and painting.

Anyway, hope that all helps. If you guys need any more info just post here, or PM me to make sure I see it! The more RFTs around, the better! :)
