Hi all!

I have to start off by saying that a lot of the collections here are amazing, and the level of artistry here is beyond compare. Truly awe-inspiring stuff!

I'm fairly new to the world of prop collecting, and decided I'd focus my first collection on my favorite film, Jurassic Park. JP is the film that led me into my eventual career in the arts, and it was the first film that I saw multiple times in the theater (I was eleven, and it totally blew me away). I'm also focusing my collection right now on only the first film, as it's the one that I enjoyed the most. I have a few more pieces in transit, and a couple more that need framing, but I thought I'd share what I have so far. Enjoy, and please feel free to leave any comments or questions!

This is all of it:

A very awesome T-Rex skeleton replica (seems fitting), and Muldoon's hat. It's not SA, but it'll do for now, and it cost less than 10 bucks, so I couldn't say no. :)

PROP_TOP-1.jpg

I think I'm going to strip and re-paint the raptor claw. The vehicle tag is scratch made, and I believe the brochure is the Ashecroft (sp?) brochure.

This has quickly become the Nedry Shelf. :) The can is I believe one of Rylo's, and the IoA license plate will get switched out with the proper SA plate once they're available.

I believe the cane is, again, one of Rylo's.

While I was setting this all up, I had the JP 1 soundtrack playing, and my wife walked in while I was out of the room looking for something. She told me that it felt like she was walking into a Jurassic Park Experience exhibit. :)

Re: My first prop collection (Jurassic Park)

Great collection; I love Jurassic Park also.

It almost reminds me of the "bathroom" that the lawyer is sitting in when the TRex get's him. :lol

Holy subliminal images Batman, I think you're right! (I knew it looked ''Jurassic Park''-ish !) :lol

Re: My first prop collection (Jurassic Park)

very nice display! Love JP, but decided not to get anything from it for now. It would just start a tidal wave for me! lol. I have too much already. But lovely collection!

Re: My first prop collection (Jurassic Park)

Thanks for the compliments everyone! Yeah, I really lucked into this case. It wasn't originally my first choice, but now that I can't see using anything else. I find myself just walking into that room and looking at the whole display from time to time. If I'd had this collection when I was a kid, I would have completely flipped out.

Re: My first prop collection (Jurassic Park)

I to was 11 when it came out....perfect age I think.....just perfect!!

Question, what's the green guy between the cryocan and the stress toy?

Case is awesome though.....just beautiful!
I need to display mine in this way, right now they're just scattered around the man cave.

Re: My first prop collection (Jurassic Park)

Thanks!

@ cpltony: The green guy is a wind-up swamp creature: Wind-up Toys: Windup Walking Spark Swamp Creature (Sparking Creature of the Black Lagoon)

He tends to be on ebay a bit, and is only in the movie for about two shots:

I'm still trying to identify the little slot machine that's there as well, but no luck so far.

I'm thinking the back bottom wall of the case needs something there, which I hope to fill with a sideways "10,000 Volts" sign, as soon as I can track one down. I'm fairly new to the board, so I unfortunately missed out on the two runs you did last year. :( I think it will actually look pretty good sitting off behind the fern.

Re: My first prop collection (Jurassic Park)

Welcome to the board :)

I'm pretty sure Jurassic park was the first film I saw multiple times in the theater, too - three times! I was probably about eleven, too. I had that same Explorer toy :) Loved that thing. I remember wanting it so bad.

Excellent collection you have there!

Re: My first prop collection (Jurassic Park)

Thanks Mike! I think I ended up with four viewings, and an attempted fifth, but the theater wasn't showing it any more, to my dismay. And the Explorer toy was my favorite vehicle, because it looked the most like its movie counterpart. I also wanted them to release a Hammond and Lex toy, since they made the rest of the main cast.

Re: My first prop collection (Jurassic Park)

I was wondering where you got the map and leaflet printed?

Could you recommend somewhere online?

I have the PDF but have no idea on the size of paper / paper type to use.

Awesome amazing collection from another Jurassic Park fan, I am just starting mine!

Re: My first prop collection (Jurassic Park)

I was also wondering if you could take some more pictures of the items around the side of the case? They look really interesting and I would love a closer look at them.

Re: My first prop collection (Jurassic Park)

@ Haz, Thanks! The leaflet I got as part of another purchase. The map I actually just printed and cut on a piece of 8 1/2 photo paper after tweaking the PDF of the brochure that I got either here or on JPLegacy.org. So sorry, but no on-line printer reference from me.

The items on the left side are just the toys from the first movie, but here are pics from the right side. If you have any questions on what anything is, let me know. Enjoy!

Re: My first prop collection (Jurassic Park)

The box art for the board game looks bad ass. Any chance for a photo of the contents?

As I said above the collection you have is really incredible, and I thank you for sharing it!
