My latest Pulp Fiction 'Ass Watch' :)

Awesome. For the life of me when I was having my friend do a pulp piece I could not find anything close to the watch. Of course after it was done, I did. Oh well.

Hi all - I know this is an old thread but wondered if anyone could help (BTW, great work Kurtyboy with your ass watch!). I'm a photographer looking for a gold 'ass' watch, strap and kangaroo for a project and wondered if anyone knew where I can get the watch and strap? I've done a bit of homework and know it's a Lancet WW1 Trench Watch with Mercedes hands and white numbers outlined in black, apart from the 12 which is outlined in red. Have seen a few similar ones on eBay but being massively anally retentive, I want to replicate as much as possible for authenticity!

Cheers in advance

The kangaroo you can get on eBay. Silliest purchase I've ever made but I'll be damned if I don't use it every night to put my watch and wedding ring on.

Cheers Droidboy. Haha, but I bet you love it! The great thing will be once I've found everything and used it for the project, I will definitely be using it too!

Yeah I'm currently watching a kangaroo on eBay. Just waiting for the dreaded enormous postage costs calculation from the US!

Cheers

When I started searching for this watch, the first thing I noticed was how astronomically high these things can sell for. The way I finally got MINE, was by going to e-Bay & buying busted watches that had parts that I needed. The parts I didn't use will be going back up on e-Bay, to try & recoup some of the cost. Once all is said & done, I don't expect to be in for more than about $45 total for this piece.

I don't know boo about watch repair, but I didn't actually need mine to be a running specimen, & those trench watches disassemble/reassemble pretty easily. I had to make 4 separate purchases to "complete" the watch. The band I bought through an Amazon seller, who carries new/old stock.

As an aside, I also got a kangaroo from e-Bay for a STEAL.

Anyway, good luck!

Cheers for that Nexus6. You're not wrong about the cost of these watches and I think your advice is pretty much how it's gonna go for me, unless I get an 'according to Hoyle' miracle ;)

However, I do love the fact that they used a 'Trench' watch which syncs in with the story.

Your watch looks awesome BTW, nice one! I notice that your strap is silver. I couldn't work out from the very short screen time that the watch with the strap gets whether it's gold or silver. Looks gold when it's sitting on the kangaroo but silver when he puts it on...

Either way, you've done a great job there - very jealous!

Once I've managed to get the watch sorted I'll post some pics.
Cheers

I was up-in-the-air about the finish of the watchband as well. I agree, on the kangaroo, it looks gold-colored. But I started wondering if that might be reflections of surrounding colors (the wall, the kangaroo, etc), along with effects the ambient lighting (the bulb in the lamp looks to be incandescent, which would naturally have a warm, yellowish color). At the 'yourprops' link in my previous post (for my watch), the last photo is taken from a Blu-ray screencap of Butch holding the watch, & the watchband clearly looks silver/chrome/steel to me.

For me, the silver band worked better, because in daylight it looks silver (like in the film), & in low light conditions, it looks gold (like in the film). *shrugs*

So, until I see evidence proving otherwise, I'm calling mine "done".

Anyway, can't wait to see what you come up with. (y)cool

Yep, sounds like you've got the right idea - best of both worlds! Don't suppose you remember the amazon seller do you? Struggling to find more than 4 pages' worth on amazon.co.uk. Wondered whether they might ship to the UK.

Thanks for your help and pics!

BOOM. :D

I think you're spot on. Just been trying to get a screen grab of when Butch picks up the watch. Here it is in all its stainless steel glory...

Haha, no worries. Thought you'd like that and wanted to repay the favour for pointing me in the right direction of the strap. Just placed my order!

Hopefully will have some shots to share soon. Take it easy
