My low budget Bane build

Wanted to tackle a Bane build for this years Austin Comic-Con. This costume is going to be based loosely on the TDKR Bane. Not really going for 100% screen accuracy here.

I started off with a 3m paint respirator I picked up at O'Reillys. I disassembled the respirator until it was only a mouth peice. I Then constructed the rest of the mask from foamie sheet

I used wire loom and pipe cleaners to form the tubes.held the top hoses on with plastic wire clamps. Used gutter guard for the grill. Hot glued it all on and hit it with some plasti- dip. Got all of this stuff from home depot

Sprayed mask with some O.D green spray paint, then went over the details with some acrylic paint.

Nicely done. :)

I've always admired budget builders. Any schmuck with a bank account can write a big check and buy something from somebody else. But making one's own, especially on a budget, requires imagination, creativity and dedication--things that few people have.

lflank I appreciate that very much. Ive made lots of budget costumes but have been hesitant to post them when I see guys on here with $2500 dark knight costumes . But its a hobby for me and the costumes Definatly stand out compared to the cheap store bought stuff.

nah, he's hit the nail on the head, anyone can throw money at something.... not everyone can build something, some, don't even try! lol

I'm in a costuming club where half at least, haven't made a single costume they own....

I'm half way through my Bane build, waiting on the coat, hopefully tomorrow, building the boots, the trousers and armour was bought as my Christmas present :) and although I bought my mask, I painted it myself :)

Started on Banes tactical vest last night. I started off with this OD green molle vest i got from ebay for about $35. I removed all the molle loops from the front with a thread ripper and seperated the front half of the vest from the back.

Got the armor plates cut out of foamies. Went to walmart in search of gray vinyl to wrap it with. Found some black. I will just have to dye it.

Foamies are wonderful stuff. With enough glue and enough foamies, I think people can make absolutely anything. ;)

Hey man, perhaps give Home Depot a look and pick up a rattle can of Rustoleum 'Hammered Dark Bronze' paint - it's just about the perfect color for the armor plates, $7/can.

Cheers!

Im going to look into that hammered paint for shure. Here is a pic of my progress. Still waiting on the buckle to come in. Something about my vest just doesnt seem right. Can anyone give me an idea of what it may be?
