Oates plumbers putty

Hi. I have bought some plumbers putty that I thought was a good cheap epoxy (it was a dollar for a 14oz tub). But the stuff is not drying. After looking around online half the articles say it dries in hours, the rest never. Lol anyone ever used it? Know of any way to use it and get it to harden. The stuff sculpts great, it holds patterns well. But it's kinda useless if it never sets.

Unless the product specifically says "epoxy" it will probably never harden and only a small skim coat will dry for easy cleaning. I got a feeling you got the kind that comes in a little "play doh" tub that don't need mixing being a solid greyish white blob that is for drains and faucets for creating a watertight seal.

I would offer a hypothesis: Since plumbers putty is very similar to bondo, try mixing a little bondo hardener into the putty and see if that works? It would limit your sculpting time if it does work, but it's worth a try if you like it. :)

Thanks for the info. I'll try the bindi hardner tomorrow and let you know. If it works it will make it the cheapest material in know of, by far.
