My first helmet was built on a gutted JT mask. It sucked, but had a nice crest. I now use a proto switch. The next helmet will be a full coverage helmet. My nick on our team is "Agent-K"
I saw something about someone using milspec rope as dreads so I went to my local surplus store. I found some rope that had a gorgeous tiger stripe banded coloring. I have more pix, but am on a borrowed pc atm.
The crest and mouth are made from toilet paper rolls, the cheeks are made from hot glue. The dread rings are bits of scrap leather in my craft bin. I tried to use similar but different colors for effect. The underhelmet was aquired after trying MANY helmets. It is from a child's army playset containing a molded radio, canteen and helmet. Fits perfectly!
Since my tag is "Agent-K" I felt the K on the crest was appropriate.
It has worked incredibly well so far, but was done in a hurry for an event. I have another model i am working on for the next one. Larger crest made of foam or sheet plastic, so it is water resistant. This one stood up to many hits! I even used it this weekend as well. It has a proto fan in the forehead that keeps it unfogged when added to the thermal lens system. I love the comments I get when wearing it on the field. May be using it at a haunted house the next three weekends.
