personal challenge: faux chrome effect without airbrush or spray can

based on "chrome mirror nail powder" that went viral a few months ago.
the key is to use a paint/ lacquer that remains a bit tacky/ sticky after it has dried so that the chrome powder can stick on.
i used a combination of semco black gloss acrylic with and without a layer of Sakura Hobby Craft "3D crystal lacquer". white paint background is Apple Barrel Gloss White.
these are what i have experimented so far.

I have limited amount of paints so i can't do anymore experiments. hope someone sees this and refine and improve on this method.

PS: i have just posted this to the RPF fb group as well.

good to see that this figurine hobbyist Jevries is using the same/ similar chrome powder as well.

but he coated the car parts with UV resin first before rubbing the chrome powder which is what nail technicians do. i am trying to explore not using UV resin because it is expensive

i got the idea to use tacky glossy paint instead of UV resin after this vlogger tried mirror nails without UV nails. fast forward to 1:00

i had some mod podge matte lying around so i applied a layer of that on the unpainted white spoon, waited for it to be nearly dry before applying the chrome powder. it works to some extent but it would be difficult to know when the mod podge is "nearly dry".
