Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

I don't think Primrodo meant that QMx had a plan for misinformation, moreso, someone representing QMx gave information on what is planned for the production sonics. The misinformation comes form people who have been told incorrect specs and the chinese whispers (no pun intended) that roll from one collector to the other snowballing the incorrect info until it resembles nothing that was said originally. As seen above if your information is correct.

Yeah sorry if my post was taken wrong! I meant that the PLAN as in things to do. Like they plan sound/vibration etc. I was told by a few people, not on this forum that they had been told a number of different things, and some here have said the same. So I do not know if things were misheard or someone was not sure what they were saying. No offense to QMx at all! :)

I am sure soon enough we will have some more specific information. Until then I am keeping positive and excited on what will come :)

Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

Ya see, there are quite a few people that have been told conflicting stuff, not just me. Time will tell, and I've heard QMx listens to fans in pre production, so the little things may be fixed and sound investigated too. If they can bring it in for $200, it is a winner, even with a slender butt :eek

Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

Well maybe that will be changed too!

My biggest hope is that they drop the vibrating feature...the prop gets enough phallic comments as it is!

Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

The crackle paint on this sonic is much nicer than the others available IMHO. Fingers crossed they hit that $200 mark! I may be able to convince my wife to let me buy one. :)

The paint on this looks great (identical to the season one piece). They really nailed the cracked porcelain pattern. I have high hopes that this will be awesome. :)
Is the diameter of the hole going up the center of the acrylic rod (frosted part) a bit too big in diameter or is it just me?

Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

Hey guys-

I've just recieved a reply from an email I sent to QMX and have gained these answers.

No official price point, or release date, has been official released or confirmed by QMX.

They are dropping the vibrate function all together, and are going to put sound in the thing.

Good! That was such a strange idea lol!

No release date though, I wonder what at least they want to target...

Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

He's put more pics up. Looks like real porcelain and even better than the one on the QMx proto...

This is really hotting up now.

Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

Indeed it does! Looks great! Way better then the organic finish and even the MFX plastikote finish. I have played with a few crackle finishes over the years on more than screwdrivers, would be interested to hear how he did that durably.

He employs a unique combination of crazy glue and irradiated cheeze whiz in a 403 step process. :lol

Re: QMx Sonic Screwdriver Thread

Is it an actual pottery crackle glaze?

I asked him about durability and he says it is looking excellent at the moment, comparable to the powdercoat, but not as hard so won't chip as easy. He also added this....

Please point out to Risu even a low temperature Raku glaze needs at least 900 deg C to fire. It may look like ceramic but I can assure you it is an entirely off the shelf finish albeit with some tweaks.

So it is a paint type finish of some kind. Last time I heard he was messing about with yachting stuff, so could be anything. Definately not cheese though.
