R1-G4 DROID SALE

Hey guys. I've been wanting to make this droid for ages so got to modelling him and printing out all the main components. There are a few decent set pics of him but nothing definitive regarding details/greeblies etc. Most renders and files I've seen have him symmetrical with the various components mirrored, which is not accurate to the ANH sandcrawler droid sale scene. Famously inspired by a sci-fi cover from an Isaac Asimov book, this character has loads of classic OT charm

Here's where I'm at...so I've glassed the body which has cut outs to insert all the large parts into. The green paint is just an undercoat for the darker, military green he will wear when finished

Er...yeah, probably, if not, then it's very much like his stuff

So a bit more done and some kit has been added; Mostly painted and weathered too

Still some pieces to make and add and then lots of greeblies and wires, as well as the alien font markings.
I know someone will say that the magnetic clamp on his head is not part of the droid and yes, I know that, but he is gonna be displayed in the sandcrawler droid sale scene and he does have it attached there

That is friggin' awesome! The R1 has always been such a cool design and it's great to see a fan attempt a replica of it. I totally want one!

Nice replica! A pet peeve of mine though is that the R1 droid did not have an antenna on his head.
That piece seen in the sandcrawler photo is the cable to lower him into the scene.
Official sources have made the same mistake so the "antenna" is somewhat cannon now (seen in The Mandalorian and most products).
