Rebel Transport scratchbuild.

Re: A storm is coming!

Needless to say maybe, but Lee this is going to be a benchmark. Yours will be the definitive replica. Can't wait to see it grow!

Re: A storm is coming!

I cant say itll be definitive Scott, still much of her is unfound, but what we do know should open a few eyes i guess lol.

Itll look, feel, and maybe even smell like an RT, so the overall effect should be acheived lol, and im always a sucker for finding that "impossible" part!

Re: A storm is coming!

Not able to do much today, got several "life" things to be getting done.

Did get a chance to begin playing around with the lower belly plates though, what a pig of a job, VERY hard to get right, they maybe need tilting over a tad more, but then that throws off the brim trench keel, so i may stick with this angle and depth TBH as it keeps at pretty parallel.

Could do with some opinions lol...Allan? What do you think buddy?

Ill be back on her tomorrow, need to make some major progress TBH as i want to get all the nasty stuff closer to done.

Looking really good, Lee.

Hey, are you going with one of the published length dimensions, or were they both wrong? LOL, not much is right in Chronicles or GLM...

Re: A storm is coming!

Cheers Martyn. Length comes out at 75cm buddy, which is pretty much a Chronicles measure i think, and that measure, seems to allow all found parts (which kinda determines, and cements the size) to fit VERY well indeed.

Re: A storm is coming!

Thank you for that, Lee!

GLM (aka Best of the Lucasfilm Archives) says 79cm if I recall correctly, and I noticed one of Lasse's pics makes it look as if he might have changed the length of his buck, so I wondered if you might have had to fiddle with it too.

Either way it is a nice size, eh?

PS I just ordered a second 312T. (Need it for something else anyway...but I can dream, LOL!)

Re: A storm is coming!

Well, thing is Martyn, the outer hull panels are not applied yet, these will still add an easy 4 to 5cm so as for dims, Allan has pretty much nailed the form.
312t? What is that for buddy....im yet to find any 312t on the Transport?

Oh it sure looks like he has. Wasn't meaning to imply otherwise!

D'oh, Tyrell. When you're mixing up basic parts you know it's time to go to bed!

Cheers,
Martyn

Re: A storm is coming!

Tread, the SW Tech Journal refers to 2 transports; Quantum Storm and Bearing Lifter.

Re: A storm is coming!

Beyond a holy grail, something that just shouldn't be done due to aloofness, & here it is taking shape before us. Lee, I'm done mate I've had about 2 weeks at home since Jan 10th, so get the kettle on soon mate there's some bits coming your way.

Re: A storm is coming!

Thanks you guys, had a few things going on this weekend so not been able to do much at all.
I did however get a few to fit the lower hull plate today, i needed them removable for painting, so i fitted the plate with four micro self tapping screws into the support ribs, worked very well...though once there ready for a permenant fit, ill CA and screw.....totally solid then.

Slowly but surely its taking shape, just cant wait to get to adding some kit parts.....must use restraint lol.

Re: A storm is coming!

I'm missing building mate, I'm only home till Fri morning but I am going on holiday for a week on Sunday but my summer shed isn't as busy as I thought so I should be able to get my teeth into something quite soon. I'm thinking maybe the Y as my next major build but it needs a lot of bits buying & work doing so that might be a WIP? I'm hoping it wont be too long before the shuttle & snow speeder are ready these are the ones I'm really looking forward to. I've got plenty to do though so its all good. The RT is looking better & better mate. I'll get your address again tomorrow or email it & I'll get your stuff off in the post as it wont be till I get back from my hols that I can pop round. Looking forward to it I'll try & bring my X over, it would be ace for someone to see it who knows what it is!!!!! :lol
