Reys Blaster low budget metal home build

HI there, I've had a couple of days working on a copy of Reys blaster from the new movie.
I used regular steel stock for the top and bottoms to keep costs down, and I only used an angle grinder, pillar drill, welder and a lot of filing to get the parts made up.
Unfortunately the grinding lines went a little mad as the lock slipped off my pillar drill table when I was cutting, so they don't exactly line up which was a shame.
I am now having another set of parts made by cnc and laser cut metal and ally sheet, so the next one should be perfect.
Anyhow here are a few pics of the nearly completed Blaster.
I sized this particular blaster at a little over 100 percent, as the original size was almost impossible to hold ( I have fat fingers) and it felt very small in the hand, so this is the big boys version.
The cnc version will be at 100 percent for accuracy. it will be interesting to see the difference when the par arrive back here.

Ill post more as it comes.

Yes indeed, I got called away to do some work.
Here it is so far.

still more bits to do like the safety switch, (at least I think that's what it is) just above the grips, and reshaping the grips, and a couple of turned parts for the front.

Most kind guys, Thanks. I didn't initially like this gun when I first saw it, but after making one it definitely feel like a star wars gun. It occurred to me that the top and bottom barrels of the main body resemble a lightsaber in their "ring" treatment. I kind of like it now.

Thanks Darkev.
Ive done a little more on it, reshaped the grips and stained and painted them up. Also heated up the muzzle to give the blue heat colour. More weathering to come soon.

Cheers guys.
I've done a bit more on the beasty today, got myself a cheap flight case of the evil bay, and weathered it a little.
Made up a quick set of spare parts and tools which I though would go well with the blaster.
Packed them in the box. Ill do more as I get the last bits of the blaster made up, but at least I have somewhere to keep it now.

Thanks guys I'm glad you like it. It looks like my cnc guy has fallen off the planet for now, so I've made up the tape guide wheel thing on the lower front by finding some metal tubing which fits great inside each other, then I made some rings using a tube cutter and soldered them all together. It should do for now, but as soon as my metal working guy gets back to me ill have some lathed up. pics to come later on.

a little late but here are a couple of images of my cobbled together lower front bit !!!!
