Rush movie discussion with spoilers.

I am not really into Formula 1 racing, but read good things about Rush by Ron Howard starring Chris Hemsworth.

It got released in UK and few other countries last week, while some are getting it this week. US gets a wide release next week, along with a limited release tomorrow.

Yeah, it's a ridiculous poster that tells nothing about the movie. The marketing guys are hoping people will look at Chris Hemsworth's face and go.. 'Hey it's Thor, let's check it out'.

They have another poster showing both characters in their driving suits, thus gives a better idea that it's a movie about F1 racing. But they are currently going with this close up shot poster for most of their promotions.

I dunno. It's pretty informative, if you've ever wanted a ballpark figure on how many pores Chris Hemsworth has on his face...

Reviews so far have been outstanding and I used to follow F1 racing (though not from this era, hell I wasn't even born yet) so this is a must-see for me.

For those who don't following racing at all (or maybe just F1 racing), check out the Senna documentary, excellent film and great place to start when it comes to driver psyche and drama in the sport. It's available on Netflix streaming.

I feel the same way about most trailers.

Poster is basically supposed to say 'this movie is coming' (or is here).

Trailer is supposed to tell you what it's about.

This poster does it's just, tells you the movie's name and that's about it. The TV spots seem to do a very good job of telling you what it's about - which seems to be a rarity these days.

Also, this thread has a disappointing lack of Canadian prog-rockers, so I've come to remedy that situation.

This post deserves rep :) Unfortunately i can't give it :)

I've been a fan of open wheel racing for many years and a bit of a student of the 1970s era, primarily because I had a few F1 cars in my diecast collection when I was a kid. Rush IMHO is VERY good. While it naturally isn't a documentary and did compress certain things, it was pretty faithful in its portrayal of the 1976 season from the focus of Lauda and Hunt. It also reignited my F1 modeling kick as I went ahead and scoured ebay to score some McLaren M23 kits from Tamiya and Hasegawa's Ferrari 312T2. So I'll be having a bit of fun with these pretty soon.

Finally saw this. I never thought that the last movie I saw in 2013 happened to be one of the best that the year had to offer. I watched this with zero expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Great acting from Daniel*Bruhl and (who'd have guessed?) Chris Hemsworth. I find it amazing that a movie about a rivalry between two men could end up with both being characters that the audience can actually root for instead of the typical protagonist/antagonist storyline. Another solid gem from director Ron Howard and writer Peter Morgan, who wrote that other favorite sports movie of mine, The Damned United.

Oh, and seeing my one of my favorite F1 cars, the black Lotus John Player Special driven by Mario Andretti, make its cinematic debut, brings absolute joy to me.* :)
