Saiyan Armor Progress (Update pg 3)

Re: Saiyan Armor Progress thread

You know if you mod a spidey movie print to all blue it would make a sweet body suit with that armor!
I am working on a print right now i'll see if i can make an all blue pattern.

Re: Saiyan Armor Progress thread

That is a great idea! I was originally considering airbrushing some muscle tone onto a jumpsuit, but that would be much cooler looking. Lemme know how it goes!

Re: Saiyan Armor Progress thread

Hello all! I hope you're doing well. Sorry I'd seemingly disappeared, I'm not a very good thread host. I just couldn't let you guys see how horrible the fiberglassing and hydrocal-ing stages went (Or rather I was too embarassed/angry). I put the plaster on too thin and the mold broke into about 13 pieces per half. Glued them back together and fiberglassed, but that wasn't done very well either so I've been rebuilding it with Bondo for a few weeks now. Hopefully I can still finish in time for Dragon Con...

Still gotta finish the under arm trim, tweak the rebuilt trim under the left pec, add the gold area stripes, then put it under some silicone. Skirt piece is still being sculpted as well.

I'd like to have it completely finished and ready for molding today. I'll probably also try to have the skirt piece in the hydrocal by the end of the day as well.

Thanks for looking!

Re: Saiyan Armor Progress thread

cool it looks so great.
what material will it be exactly how flexible?

I'm planning on using Vyta-Flex 40 urethane rubber from Smooth-on. They say it has a 660% elongation at break. Should be stretchy/strong enough.

Couple of wee updates. I measured off the lines around the armor and laid pinstriping that I'll primer over a bunch to build up around the grooves. Saw this trick in the modeling forums here. Should work like a charm.

Finished the skirt and built up a retaining wall:

And poured the last of my hydrocal over it:

Next, fiberglassing the skirt. :)

Here's a shot of the boots as they are now. I did the first one a few weeks ago, but it was such a pain that I'm procrastinating heavily on the second one...

I've looked for cheap white leather gloves, but haven't found anything yet. Any good glove sources?

Mate that looks fantastic, I can't wait to see it all finished and I'd be interested in seeing if you'll make a run of these!

Keep up the great work and keep us updated!

your work is absolute fantastic.
some fur for the tail around the waist the great suit the scouter
this will be better then everything in the movie.

How will the gloves be made?

Thanks guys! :$

I just need to find some white leather gloves and I plan to add the gauntlet parts. I've been thinking I might just modify some white golf/baseball batting gloves if I can't find anything simpler.

I had planned on offering these in different color schemes depending on what you guys wanted. Black/white/brown (Radditz), Blue/white/gold (Nappa), and white and gold (Vegeta).

Everything looks great! Sign me up for a scouter. As for the movie the pics released so far have not impressed. Spike as Piccolo? Will you be working on a radar? I have a couple from Japan but a real size one would kick ass. The one with the DVD is nice but the limited set cost way too much.

Thanks!

Greg
