Yet again I found some one selling one of the models I posted for free on thingyverse .
I know , I know .id did post it out there on the net.
But thinking I was part of a community shareing there work. I’m always being asked on here to share my 3d files. And I suppose I’ve become grumpy and a bit of a ludight . But isn’t it just the bear minimum of decency to credit the maker if you selling someone else designs.
All they’re doing is stopping people like me from posting things for free.(or even just sharing 3D files)
I know there not making tones of money,it’s just the principle. I don’t know maybe it’s me being old and this is the new state of play.
I thought the idea of sharing our work was great for everyone. there are alway people out there who spoil things.

That is terrible.

Sorry folks are making you regret being nice and donating your work.

Curious - which model did they sell?
its nothing special. in fact it was one of the first things I ever posted. its just the principle. this guy was charging $50 for what id given away for free.
don't these people release that leves no incentive for anyone to actually post there work.

I feel your frustration. I've stopped sharing files - 3d, 2d, anything really. Grifters are everywhere - and they're anonymous.

Shame, damn shame.

Yeah that sucks. I put a few thing 3D models online, but I put them on CG Trader partly because it seems easier to track down someone that tries to profit off your work. With Thingiverse, I don't think there's any way of knowing who sold your models. That's the danger of being generous, unfortunately.

You could choose to put your models on a pay site but still make it available for free, since people still have to register in order to download, and you'd have a record of everyone that downloaded it to try to keep people "honest." I know that wouldn't stop theft completely, but it should limit it a lot more than free sites like Thingiverse that don't require registration. The tradeoff is that you don't get as many eyes on your work, but it may be worth it for the sake of secuirity.

I didn't look at who posted, sorry Flimzy, I probably said a bunch of stuff you already know. I didn't realize who I was responding to!
